Shin Emperor commanded a price 2.1m EUR at the 2022 Arqana August Yearling Sale. He made a winning debut at Tokyo Racecourse under Takeshi Yokoyama. Shin Emperor is a full-brother of the Arc winner Sottsass, by Siyouni out of Starlet's Sister. He won comfortably by three lengths.

Winning jockey Yokoyama commented "He was much better than I thought. He weaved to the right and left in the homestretch but other than that he was all good. I am excited for the journey ahead." Trainer Yahagi added "I am glad to see him running well at the races. I want to run him once this year, I will discuss with the owner."
