Ryan Moore's misfortune earlier in the afternoon meant Kota Fujioka was deputised to ride Namur in the G1 Mile Championship, landing the local jockey his first Grade 1 title in 14 years. Soul Rush finished second a neck behind the winner and Justin Cafe came home in third. Sent off favourite, Schnell Meister finished a disappointing seventh.

Namur is a daughter of Harbinger out of Sambre et Meuse, by Daiwa Major. She became the seventh filly to win the Mile Championship and this is her second consecutive graded title following her victory in the G2 Fuji Stakes.
