Last year's G1 Japanese Derby winner Tastiera showed off his improvement in a final piece of fast trackwork at Miho Training Center ahead of the G1 Osaka Hai. He clocked 80.6 seconds for the final six furlongs and 11.9 seconds for the final furlong.

Trainer Noriyuki Hori commented, "I think he was too relaxed. His ears were facing forward and he was looking in front to see what other horses were doing. We did not overwork him so I told the rider to go only 80%. His physical condition is good to go. He is 90 to 95% ready for the race."
