Mozu Mei Mei claimed her first graded stakes success in the G1 Oka Sho trial with a winning time of 1:34.0. Under Yutaka Take, Mozu Mei Mei controlled the race from start to the finish, leading all the way with a strong show of stamina in the final furlong. Kona Coast and Perifania finished second and third respectively, and also secured their places in the Oka Sho.

Reflecting on the race, Take said: "It was a thriller but we made it in time. I was planning to let other horses position in front of us if the start didn't go well but we jumped out of the gate really well so we stayed up front. I think fast conditions suits her as well." Pointing to her future, he added: "I knew that it was going to be a close finish and I wanted to lead the race. Being the pacemaker won us the race. Two consecutive wins over 1600m at Hanshin suggests the G1 Oka Sho is an ideal target for her."
