It was an emotional race for many as the second favourite Justin Milano won the G1 Satsuki Sho under Keita Tosaki. The winning time was 1:57.1 seconds, setting a new track record.
After winning the Satsuki Sho aboard Justin Milano, jockey Tosaki, visibly moved, said, "Kota was pushing us from behind. I believe he would be pleased. Thank you, Kota. I want to say, 'Well done and rest now.'" This emotional victory comes just days after Kota Fujioka, who had been working with Justin Milano until a week ago, tragically passed away in a riding accident.
Tosaki, after securing his second Satsuki Sho victory since Epoca d'Oro in 2018, commented, "The horse was even more powerful today. I think he will be in even better form heading into the Derby. If I can deliver another good ride..." Tosaki is refocusing his efforts as he looks ahead to the G1 Japanese Derby.
