2022 Horse of the Year Equinox underwent his last serious piece of training before his first foreign expedition to Dubai, galloping on the woodchip course at Miho training centre.

He recorded 80.8s in total for his six-furlong (1200m) workout, covering the last three furlongs (600m) in 37.0s and the final furlong (200m) in 11.4s under a strong drive in the home stretch. Trainer Kimura commented, "Because he had a hard race in the Arima Kinen (Grand Prix), there are some unknowns. I hope he can continue to progress in his training and carry condition into the Tenno Sho (Autumn) or the Arima Kinen (Grand Prix). He will start in the Dubai Sheema Classic as favourite amongst the Japanese horses. Everyone expects lots of him, so I want to make those people happy."
