Otanisan hits homerun in Tokyo maiden

On the 16th at Tokyo Racecourse, Race 3, for 3-year-old maidens saw second favourite Otanisan, ridden by jockey Kosei Miura, claim victory. Otanisan pulled away in the stretch to win by two and a half lengths over the race favourite, American Runner. The winning time was 1:24.2.
Sixth favorite Scenic View finished third, a neck behind the runner-up. Third favorite Tomoja Chateau ended up in fourth place.
The winner, Otanisan, is a U.S.-bred colt by Justify out of American Song, by Stripes Song. The name "Otanisan" means "family name of a person and honorific suffix." In his previous two starts, Otanisan had issues with slow starts, finishing fifth in both. However, with a clean start this time, he secured an impressive victory.
