Pre-race favourite A Shin Wand secured his first graded stakes victory to extend his unbeaten record, winning back-to-back races since debuting. The winning time was 1 minute 9.0 seconds. Eighth favourite Craspedia finished second, and second favourite Arlington Row took third place.
This year's G3 Kokura Nisai Stakes, held at Chukyo Racecourse, saw A Shin Wand, who won a Newcomers race over the same course on August 10, live up to expectations. He raced in third position throughout the race and powered through in the stretch despite the heavy track conditions. Craspedia, the runner-up in their previous encounter, followed closely behind, making it a one-two finish for the pair once again.
Winning jockey Hideaki Miyuki reflected on the race, saying, "I was relieved to win because I believed this was a strong horse. The track conditions made it tough to choose the right path, but he broke well from the gate and allowed me to position him where I wanted." He added, "Even before his Newcomers race, I felt he had the potential to win graded stakes. Now that he's won a G3, I believe he'll continue to perform well as we move up to higher-level races."
