Auguste Rodin, a four-year-old Irish colt and a winner of six G1 races, including the 2023 English and Irish Derby, and the G1 Breeders' Cup Turf, will retire after his final race in the Japan Cup (November 24th, Tokyo Racecourse). He will retire to the covering shed for the 2025 breeding season at Coolmore Stud in Ireland, as announced on the Coolmore website on the 27th.
Auguste Rodin is from the final crop of the legendary Deep Impact. He debuted in June 2022 under the care of trainer Aidan O'Brien, finishing second in his debut. He then claimed his first G1 victory in the Futurity Trophy after three consecutive wins. As a three-year-old, he added four more G1 titles, including the English and Irish Derby, Irish Champion Stakes, and the Breeders' Cup Turf. This year, he secured his sixth G1 win in the Prince of Wales's Stakes. In his most recent race, the Irish Champion Stakes, he finished a close second by a neck to Econimics, beating the Japanese runner, Shin Emperor.
