Second favourite Brede Weg returned triumphantly from a long layoff, surging past the field to win the G2 Fuchu Himba Stakes impressively. Following her 2023 G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup triumph, this marked her second graded stakes victory. Scintillation, 10th favourite, finished second, while race favourite Masked Diva took third.
Despite an 11-month break since her Queen Elizabeth II Cup win, Brede Weg proved her class once again. She settled towards the rear of the field early on and remained patient until the final stretch. With 400 meters left, she swung wide and unleashed a powerful sprint, effortlessly passing her rivals to claim victory.
Jockey Christophe Lemaire, all smiles, commented, "Her response around the third and fourth corners felt perfect, so I chose the outside for the final stretch." He added, "She's an incredible mare, and her ability is on par with Cervinia. Though she can't run too many races, her potential is sky-high."
