Romantic Warrior will run in the G1 Hong Kong Cup on Sunday 8th December. Expectations are high for his first ever three-race winning streak, but does he have any plans beyond that? And will he return to Japan? After the draw we asked the owner, Mr P. Lau, directly about the horse.
He said, "The horse is in good condition. It's got a good gate and the jockey is good. I think Japanese horses are also strong," said the owner. "He won easily the first time, but it was difficult last year when he came back from Australia," he said, recalling his last two Hong Kong Cup victories. This year's racing schedule has been smooth and I think it's better than last year," he added confidently.
As for his future plans, which many fans are anxious about, he said, "The horse will be seven years old next year and depending on the results, I am looking at the G1 Saudi Cup and the G1 Dubai World Cup. As for his participation in Japanese races, he would only say "possible". But of the Yasuda Kinen, which he won this year, he said: "It was a wonderful experience. I received a lot of support in Japan and I have very fond memories of it," Lau recalled with a smile. There is a good chance that we will see him again in Japan.
