Fresh off his first G1 victory in the Mile Championship, Soul Rush looked calm and composed as he stepped onto the turf course at Sha Tin Racecourse for his final tune-up. Gradually accelerating with a fluid stride, he recorded 4F in 53.0 seconds and 2F in 23.6 seconds, displaying vibrant energy and strong forward momentum.
Groom Iwasaki, who was aboard for the work, expressed satisfaction with the effort, "He felt as good as ever. He focused on finishing strongly in the final furlong, and he showed his spark. The clocked time might have been influenced by the quick turf, but it's also a reflection of his excellent condition. His enthusiasm throughout the work was apparent."
Since claiming his first graded stakes title in the 2022 Milers Cup, Soul Rush's journey to G1 glory has been a long and challenging one. Despite showcasing exceptional talent as a miler, he faced setbacks in six prior G1 attempts. However, his recent Mile Championship win was a commanding performance, marked by a superb finishing kick.
Now, he returns to the G1 Hong Kong Mile seeking redemption after finishing fourth in last year's edition. "Last year, he wasn't in great form and lacked his usual vitality. This time, he's clearly in excellent shape," Iwasaki stated confidently.
Soul Rush drew barrier number 10 for the race, a position the team welcomes. "Being slightly outside is preferable to getting caught up in traffic from an inside draw. I think it's a good spot," Iwasaki added.
At six years old, Soul Rush is hitting his peak, aiming to carry his momentum to international success in the Hong Kong Mile.
