Obamburumai, with the Japanese legend Yutaka Take aboard, won the G3 Arlington Cup on the heavy turf at Hanshin Racecourse on Saturday afternoon. Obamburumai started the race from mid-position and drew away from his rivals in the home straight. Session led the whole race until the closing stages but was ultimately caught by the winner, finishing second a neck behind. Shomon came home in third and the favourite of the race, Yurisha, finished a disappointing 11th.

Obamburumai is a son of Discreet Cat out of Pink Gerbera, by Deep Impact. Obamburumai, Session, and Shomon all earned an entry spot for the G1 NHK Mile Cup.
