Lucky Sweynesse under veteran Zac Purton won the G1 Chairman's Sprint Prize in an almost common canter. The pair were positioned prominently and drew away from rivals in the home stretch. Local runners dominated the top three with Courier Wonder in second and Wellington in third.

Japanese runner Aguri started in gate number eight and travelled a couple lengths behind the leader. He was not able to make a notable impression on the main protagonists and finished in fifth. Trainer Takayuki Yasuda commented, "He did well but the pace was too fast for him. I hope this experience will be in some way positive for him going forward."
