On May 3rd, the JRA released a statement notifying that jockeys Seina Imamura, Naho Furukawa, Manami Nagashima, Taiga Tsunoda, Nana Kawaharada and Miku Kobayash have been suspended for 30 days, running from May 13th to June 11th. Under the rules of Japanese racing, jockeys are prohibited from using any communication device, as a preventative measure against race fixing, from the night before the race to the end of the racing day. For example, if races are on Saturday and Sunday jockeys are not allowed to use electronic devices from Friday night to Sunday after the races. The six jockeys involved contravened the rules by using smartphones during a race day itself. It is rare to have this many suspensions simultaneously.

On April 23rd, information about smartphone use in the jockeys' room was reported to the chairman, which led to the questioning of Nagashima, Kawaharada, and Kobayashi. Perhaps surprisingly, they all immediately acknowledge that they broke the rules. The Chairman questioned the other female jockeys and discovered that the smartphones of Furukawa and Imamura had been used as well. Lastly, the investigation identified a phone call between Tsunoda and Imamura. The timing of such resulted in a large number of young jockeys.

Chairman Kubo commented at the press conference: "It is a big problem that the jockeys brought and used the communication device at the races. They misunderstood the rule." He explained that in five of the six cases, "There are larger numbers of male jockeys, so the women's room could be a more enclosed space; it is our mismanagement." For future prevention, "I will reflect on our management system. We will look to strengthen the oversight of the jockeys' room." he said.

Seina Imamura and Manami Nagashima who achieved notable victories in her rookie are now banned for 30 days.
