G1 winner Lauda Sion heading to Australia

On the 25th of May, the JRA released a statement announcing that six-year-old colt Lauda Sion, winner of the 2020 G1 NHK Mile Cup and the 2021 G2 Keio Hai Spring Cup. He has been retired from the JRA and will continue his racing career in Australia. Lauda Sion is by Real Impact, and is out of Antiphona by Songandaprayer.

Lauda Sion made a winning debut in June 2019 at Hanshin Racecourse. He continued to perform consistently throughout his juvenile campaign. In May 2020, as a three-year-old, he achieved his first Graded stakes victory in the G1 NHK Mile Cup at huge odds.

He continued to compete at Graded stakes level and in May 2021 he captured his second title in the Keio Hai Spring Cup. In 2022 and 2023, he ventured to Saudi Arabia and Dubai, and excelled in races predominantly on turf over 1200m to 1600m. His overall race record stands at 25 starts with 5 wins earning over US$ 2m in prizemoney.
