The 2023 G1 Japanese Dery hero was crowned on Sunday at Tokyo Racecourse as Tastiera claimed victory, ridden by Damian Lane. Tastiera drew away from his rivals in the final three furlongs and held off the late challenge made by pre-race favourite Sol Oriens by a neck.

Hearts Concerto finished third by a nose. Drama struck early in the Derby as Ryusei Sakai was unseated from Dura Erede as they jumped from the stalls.

Tastiera is a son of Satono Crown out of Partitura, by Manhattan Cafe. He was provided with some vengeance on Sunday after finishing second behind Sol Oriens in the G1 Satsuki Sho.
