Ten individual G1 winners are poised to contest the G1 Yasuda Kinen on June 4th.
Sodashi, a brilliant-white daughter of the sire Kurofune, she has an impressive record of three victories in G1 races run over a mile. She won the Hanshin Juvenile Fillies in 2020, the Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) in 2021, and the Victoria Mile in 2022. After a six-month break, Sodashi returned to the track in the 2023 Victoria Mile, she was narrowly beaten into second. However, she reminded spectators of her strength and tenacity on her racecourse reappearance.
Champion Jockey, Yuga Kawada, will be partnering with Sodashi for the first time, the new combination will be prominent in the betting to add another G1 title to her illustrious record.
Jack d'Or, an in-form son of Champion Miler, Maurice, will also be a popular option among punters to claim his second G1 of 2023. Jack d'Or won his first G1 in the 2000m Osaka Hai in April. The Kenichi Fujioka-trained horse is tackling 1600m for the first time in his 14-race career. Legend jock, Yutaka Take will be resuming the partnership with Jack d'Or.
From the consistent Mitsumasa Nakauchida stable, Serifos, is another entrant likely to take prominent order in the betting and finish. The son of Daiwa Major won the G1 Mile Championship in November. Serifos finished fifth in the Dubai Turf, his only start in 2023. Fresh from Derby spoils, Damian Lane will be in the saddle.
Other leading contenders include Schnell Meister who has twice been placed in the Yasuda Kinen. 2022 winner Songline, G1 NHK Mile Cup winner Champagne Color, and Milers Cup runner-up Gaia Force will go to post in a fascinating renewal of the race.
