Double Crown filly Liberty Island will head straight to G1 Shuka Sho

Three-year-old filly Liberty Island, who achieved a decisive victory by a margin of 6 lengths in the G1 Japanese Oaks and completed the fillies' Double Crown, will bypass any prep races and head straight to the G1 Shuka Sho October 15th at Kyoto racecourse in her quest for the fillies' Triple Crown. The announcement was made by her owner, Sunday Thoroughbred Club, via their website on the 2nd June.

After her previous race, Liberty Island was sent to Northern Farm Shigaraki for a break, on May 26th, and she has now transitioned from using the walking machine to treadmill exercise. She appears to be even livelier than after the G1 Oka Sho and continues to progress well in her training.

During the summer, she will remain at Northern Farm Shigaraki and then return to the training centre, taking into account the timing leading up to the target race. Liberty Island also won the G1 Oka Sho in April, going directly from the G1 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies at the end of last year.
