It has been revealed that six-year-old colt Panthalassa, who won the Saudi Cup in February earning record-breaking prize money of USD 10 million, developed a right foreleg suspensory ligament injury and will be forced to cancel his planned British expedition scheduled for this summer. Trainer Yahagi disclosed this information on Tuesday 6th June.
After winning the Saudi Cup, Panthalassa finished 10th in the Dubai World Cup. Following his return to Japan, he was being prepared at Champion Hills with the goal of competing in the prestigious UK G1 Sussex Stakes on August 2nd. However, it has now become necessary for him to undergo a rest period of three months or more due to the injury.
The planned British expedition, including the G1 Sussex Stakes for which he was provisionally entered, has been abandoned. Trainer Yahagi expressed disappointment, saying, "He was recovering well from the fatigue of Dubai, so it's regrettable. We will focus on his recovery and aim for a comeback to bring joy to the fans once again."
