Three-year-old colt Derma Sotogake, who finished 6th in the Kentucky Derby, will challenge the US G1 Breeders' Cup Classic to be held at Santa Anita Park in the fall. Trainer Otonashi revealed the plan on 14th.
Delma Sotogake won the JPN1 Zen-Nippon Nisai Yushun last year and this year claimed the UAE Derby title after finishing 3rd in the Saudi Derby, securing a foreign G2 victory. After the G1 Kentucky Derby, the horse returned to Japan and is currently undergoing training at Yamamoto Training Center. As a step before the US expedition, the plan is to participate in the JPN2 Nippon TV Hai, according to the trainer. He further explained, "If we decide not to go to the Breeders' Cup, depending on the prize money, we are also considering the JPN1 JBC Classic."
