Big Ribbon, the pre-race favourite, was guided by Atsuya Nishimura to win Sunday's G3 Mermaid Stakes at Hanshin Racecourse. The pair travelled in mid-field and drew away from their rivals in the home stretch. Win Mighty made a late challenge from the outside but finished second, 3/4 length behind the winner, and Ho O Emmy's came home in third a length-and-a-half behind Win Mighty.

Big Ribbon is a daughter of Rulership out of Blitz Finale, by Deep Impact. This is her first Graded stakes title after finishing second in the G3 Fukushima Himba Stakes.
