Authority, a winner of four Graded stakes races on turf, will make his debut on the dirt in the G3 Elm Stakes.
Authority is sired by Orfevre out of Rosalind, by Symboli Kris S. He hails from a prestigious female lineage, with his grandmother Ceasario and siblings Epiphaneia, Leontes, and Saturnalia all winning G1 races and representing Japan's most-renowned female line. Throughout his career, Authority has exclusively competed on turf, securing four Graded stakes wins: the 2020 G2 Aoba Sho, the G2 Copa Republica Argentina in 2020 and 2021, and the 2022 G3 Neom Turf Cup. He has consistently demonstrated his top-notch abilities, finishing second to Contrail in the 2021 G1 Japan Cup, showcasing his talent as one of the best active racehorses.
After being excluded from the 2021 G1 Takarazuka Kinen and later being diagnosed with a fracture of the third metacarpal bone in his right foreleg, he returns to the races after a break of one year and four months. Additionally, this will be his first attempt on dirt, which adds to the challenge. However, his powerful physique (weighing over 500kg) offers a considerable advantage. It's worth noting that other Orfevre's offspring, such as Ushba Tesoro and Marche Lorraine, have successfully transitioned from turf to dirt and reached the pinnacle of the racing world. Even if he may not be in his best form, Authority's innate abilities could be enough to overcome the challenge.
