Blue-blooded mare aiming for her first Graded crown

Divina finished 4th in the G1 Victoria Mile and backed-up that level of form with a strong second-placed performance in the G3 Chukyo Kinen. It appears as if claiming a Graded level success is just a matter of time for the daughter of Maurice. She bids to break that blacktype maiden tag in the G3 Sekiya Kinen.

Trainer Yasuo Tomomichi reflected on her recent performances, commenting, "I think she ran a good race. While the frontrunners had an easy time, she made up ground with a strong finish. This race reinforced my belief that she performs well on left-handed tracks." Although she couldn't catch the winner, her impressive final sprint from 9th position at the 4th corner caught everyone's attention.

Jockey, Mirco Demuro, who partnered with Divina for the first time in the Victoria Mile, seemed more comfortable in their second outing together. Tomomichi remarks, "During her training session before her race in Tokyo, I told him to hold her back a bit, and he managed to do so easily. It was like he understood her well... I was quite impressed watching them."

Despite the record-breaking heatwave over the past few days, it's reassuring that Divina has maintained her good condition. Tomomichi stated, "So far, the heat hasn't really affected her. She's very tough. She's been in great shape all along." This year's preparation process and condition are vastly different from last year's race, where she finished 13th.

Divina is out of the JRA G1 winner Verxina, she won back-to-back editions of the Victoria Mile in 2013 and 2014. Her half-brother Cheval Grand claimed the 2017 Japan Cup, and her full sister Vivlos boasts an impressive record of both a domestic and international G1 win.
