After her connections announced that three-time Grade 1 winner Sodashi will be retired, we took a look at her potential as a broodmare. Sodashi left us with many memories from victories in the G1 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies and Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas). She won six graded stakes in total from 16 starts, and banked earnings of JPY 629 million.

She will start her new career as a broodmare in a family of white horses bred by the owner Mr. Masato Kaneko. Yukichan and the dam of Sodashi, Buchiko, were dirt horses but the trend is changing in the family, and now leans more towards turf. Apart from Sodashi herself, there is: Mama Cocha, who recently won the G1 Sprinters Stakes; Meikei Yell, winner of six graded stakes, and; Hayayakko, with six wins on both dirt and turf.

Sodashi's pedigree is suitable for a wide range of sires with King Kamehameha in the third generation and Sunday Silence in the fourth generation. The racing world now focuses on her breeding career as a member of the Kaneko family.
