With the victory of Rock You in the Jump Open Class restricted to 3-years-old or older at Kyoto Racecourse on Sunday, the great sire Deep Impact became the winningest sire in Japanese racing history, surpassing his own father Sunday Silence.
Makoto Nishitani, who was on board Rock You, commented, "Even in jumps racing, progeny of Deep Impact are on another level. They jump beautifully and literally fly." Yutaka Take, who rode Deep Impact, added, "I knew this day would come but I am glad to witness the history with my own eyes. As a part of this history, I am running out of words to appreciate Deep Impact and how he changed Japanese racing."
Deep Impact sired his first winner in 2010. It took three months and 13 years with 2751 wins from his progeny to achieve this latest landmark.
