Romantic Warrior secured his third G1 title for 2023 in the G1 Hong Kong Cup. He added the domestic title to the Hong Kong QEII Cup and the Cox Plate in Australia earlier in the year. Winning jockey James McDonald commented "I knew I was in a group of few runners at the finish line. He is a special horse and the toughest horse in the world." Luxembourg from Ireland finished second and Hishi Iguazu from Japan came home in third.

Joao Moreira on Hishi Iguazu "He ran a great race but there was an interference in the homestretch. I think that pushed us back."

Yuga Kawada on Prognosis finished fifth "He was a bit keen during the race but he collected himself well and we almost got to the higher placings. I really wanted to bring him home with a better result."

Damian Lane on Rousham Park finished eighth "We weren't able to jump out of the barrier quickly and that cost us any chance of winning."
