The retirement ceremony of Equinox, six-time G1 winner and the highest-earning racehorse in Japanese history took place at the Nakayama Racecourse on the 16th.

CEO of the Northern Farm, Katsumi Yoshida suggested that Almond Eye will visit Equinox. The total earnings of the pair are over 28 million USD. During the ceremony, Christophe Lemaire commented "The resulting progeny will be number one in the world again." Katsumi Yoshida added "I mean, we have to send her to Equinox right? There are also mares of the highest quality mares booked to visit Equinox for the upcoming season. We will support Equinox and go all in."

Commenting on his race records and the future expectation of his breeding career, Mr Yoshida said "1:55.2 in the Tenno Sho (Autumn) easily and the win in Dubai were great. I mean every race was magnificent and dominating. There will be offers from all around the world. It was important to retire him at the pinnacle of his racing career. I love the fact that we can continue this line to future generations."

In four years, we will get to see the first crop of Equinox. We cannot wait to see them run and how far they will go and potentially dominate the world.

Here are the comments from the connections on Equinox during the ceremony:

Jockey Christophe Lemaire - "I knew from the beginning that he would be a special horse. Mentally and physically he was on a different level. I am looking forward to riding his progenies in races."

Trainer Tetsuya Kimura - "So many memorable moments in the past two years. We will come back to the 2400m turf course at Tokyo again."

CEO of Silk Racing, Masashi Yonemoto - "I think everyone who watched his races fell in love with him. It is not a goodbye, this is a see you again. I am very much looking forward to seeing his progenies at the races."
