A retirement ceremony was held on December 16th for Equinox as he officially retired from racing. The reigning JRA Champion arrived at the Shadai Stallion Station in Abira town, Hokkaido, on the morning of December 18th, and will begin stud duties at the stud for the upcoming 2024 season.

Equinox retired to stud ranked No. 1 in Longines' World's Best Race Horse. His trainer, Tetsuya Kimura and officials from Northern Farm were on hand to celebrate his arrival and new beginning.

Even though his stud fee was announced as 20 million yen, his book of mares was quickly filled. After he finished having his picture taken, he went to his stall across from his father, Kitasan Black, to recover from his long trip.

"I felt the dignity of a champion in Equinox's behavior. The breeding season will start soon, and we want to prepare well." said Shadai Stallion Station's manager Tokutake.
