Emperor Wakea with Yuga Kawada on board won the G3 Negishi Stakes at Tokyo Racecourse. Arms Reign finished two-and-a-half lengths behind the winner. and Sunrise Flame came home in third, a half-length behind Arms Reign. Tagano Beauty finished disappointing 13th despite being sent off favourite for the race. The winning time was 1:24.1.

Emperor Wakea is a son of Lord Kanaloa out of Kara's Match Point, by Curlin. This is his fifth win from six starts on dirt and he passed his first graded stakes assignment with flying colours. He also earned an entry spot to the G1 February Stakes.
