Globetrotter Derma Sotogake had an amazing 2023, taking the honours in the UAE Derby and finishing second in the BC Classic. Now that he takes on the G1 Saudi Cup he is a second favourite according to William Hill. Eyes around the world are now on the Derma Sotogake.

He was planning to run in the G1 Tokyo Daishoten before heading to Saudi Arabia but withdrew as his hoof condition was not at its best. Trainer Otonashi followed up, saying: "His hooves are all good now and there are no problems with his legs as well. He is ready."

His physical growth has always exceeded the expectations of trainer Otonashi. He added: "At first, he was an average horse. As he races and experiences more as a racehorse, he continues to grow and does not stop. His core strength is amazing and he is almost at his peak as a 4YO."

For his future plans, trainer Otonashi commented: "If everything goes as planned, he will fly to Dubai after the Saudi Cup and on to the Breeders' Cup. I want him to run in Japan before BC but we're not sure yet."
