In winning the G2 Tulip Sho under the legendary Yutaka Take, Mozu Mei Mei gained an entry spot to the G1 Oka Sho and will now be aimed at the Classic title. Mozu Mei Mei jumped out of the gate well and took the front in the early stages of the race. Holding on from the front she kept the rallying Kona Coast at bay, who came from behind to finish second by a nose.
Perifania finished third by a neck with Rumino Meteor finishing fourth 3/4 lengths behind. Odds-on favourite Dura finished a disappointing 15th.
Mozu Mei Mei is a daughter of Real Impact out of In Luxury, by Frankel. This is her first graded title after winning two consecutive races including her last outing, the 1 Win class Kobushi Sho. The two other placed horses, Kona Coast and Perifania, also earned a spot in the G1 Oka Sho, run in April.
