Will it be a historic achievement for the second time in 84 years? Tranquillite and Canicule, siblings two years apart, are both aiming to win a JRA graded stakes race on the same day.

First up is the older sibling, Tranquillite, who is set to compete in the G2 Milers' Cup. This horse comes from a strong lineage, sired by Rulership and out of Chaleur, who finished second in graded stakes twice. Although he was stuck in the 3 Win class for a while, his career took a positive turn when he teamed up with jockey Yutaka Take a couple of starts back. He secured his promotion to open class by winning the Iwashimizu Stakes and followed up with a sharp second-place finish in the Rakuyo Stakes. Although this is his first attempt at a graded stakes race, his current form suggests he is well-prepared to be a strong contender.

Just 10 minutes after her brother's race, the younger sibling Canicule will compete in the G2 Flora Stakes. She is daughter of Epiphaneia. Two starts back, she displayed an exceptional burst of speed to easily win by two-and-a-half lengths in a maiden race. Her last race at the Flower Cup saw her finish sixth, but she was overly tense in the paddock, so that performance might not be the best indicator of her ability. Staying calm will be crucial again, but the change to Tokyo's track could be a positive factor. If she can deliver her best effort, she stands a good chance.
