Norihiro Yokoyama surpasses Yukio Okabe to become the second winning most jockey behind Yutaka Take

Norihiro Yokoyama and Hawaiian Time

On May 5th, jockey Norihiro Yokoyama (56-years-young) rode Hawaiian Time to victory in race 8 at Niigata Racecourse, claiming first place. This win marked Yokoyama's 2,944th victory in the Japan Racing Association (including 27 G1 wins), surpassing former jockey Yukio Okabe, whom he had tied with at 2,943 wins the day before. The top spot is currently held by Yutaka Take with 4,498 wins (as of May 5th).

Yokoyama commented, "I'm relieved to have equalled and surpassed the record of the great Yukio Okabe. It's an honour."
