Joao Moreira

On May 19th, a horse ridden by jockey Joao Moreira was disqualified in a race in Brazil, sparking speculation about a possible suspension. However, it was confirmed on the 21st that Moreira would not face any suspension by the JRA and the local racing authority in Brazil.

The disqualification was due to a discrepancy in the weight before and after the race, resulting in the horse being underweight after the race. While the exact details are still under investigation, it was determined that there were no issues with Moreira's weight before and after the race. The underweight issue was attributed to the equipment, and no penalty will be imposed on the jockey.

Moreira commented, "I was surprised to hear that this made news in Japan. Of course, there are no penalties against me personally. I will be returning to Japan to ride in the G1 Japanese Derby and the G1 Yasuda Kinen, as well as numerous other races for which I have received riding requests. I am looking forward to it and appreciate everyone's support."
