Justin Palace (C)netkeiba

Justin Palace showed great promise as a 2-year-old, finishing second in the G1 Hopeful Stakes. During his 3-year-old campaign, he competed in all three Classic races, with commendable efforts in the G1 Satsuki Sho and G1 Japanese Derby, and securing third in the G1 Kikuka Sho. With each race, he has continued to improve, solidifying his status as a top contender. Recently, he has demonstrated his ability in the older horse G1 races, proving his high calibre. He reunites with jockey Christophe Lemaire, with whom he achieved his first G1 victory in the G1 Tenno Sho (Spring). This duo boasts a perfect record of four wins in four starts, making him a formidable contender for the top positions.

Do Deuce, on the other hand, is coming off a close fifth-place finish in the G1 Dubai Turf, where a delay hindered him in finding clear running space in the stretch. Once he found an opening, his finishing kick was impressive, indicating his ability to compete with the world's best. Making his debut at Kyoto Racecourse, his adaptable racing style should mitigate any concerns. Following his G1 Arima Kinen victory last year, he aims to capture another Grand Prix in the spring. Yutaka Take will be in the saddle.

Other notable runners include Struve, who has shown significant improvement with back-to-back graded stakes victories. Pradaria, who boasts a perfect record at Kyoto Racecourse with two wins, including the G2 Kyoto Kinen over the same distance, is another strong contender. Deep Bond, a consistent performer despite his age, continues to hold his own against tough competition. Bellagio Opera, a G1 Osaka Hai winner, and Rousham Park, who finished second in the same race, could also make an impact, especially if the ground turns soft, benefiting from their Harbinger bloodlines.
