Concerns about the possible cancellation of JRA meetings due to a stable staff labour union strike have been alleviated. The races scheduled on the 18th and 19th March will go ahead as planned.

The point of contention between the labour union and Japan Trainers' Association is the current wage system that was introduced in 2011. The four major labor unions, which include JRA stable workers and exercise riders, demanded its abolishment and an increase to their basic rate.

The Trainers' Association did not comply with this demand, negotiations held on the 16th ended in a stalemate. Dialogue resumed on the 17th but once again both parties failed to come to a resolution.

However, JRA race meetings on the 18th and 19th are set to proceed with the aid of Trainers, non-union staff and hired help.

The last JRA meeting cancelled due to strike action occurred on April 3rd, 1999, that 24-year record remains intact.
