Can she become the fourth G1 winner to win the G3 Queen Stakes in Japanese racing history? Stunning Rose, the G1 Shuka Sho winner from two years ago, aims for her fourth graded stakes title in the G3 Queen Stakes.

Stunning Rose is by King Kamehameha, out of Rosa Blanca, with Kurofune as her damsire. Her dam won three races in the Japan Racing Association. Her grand dam, Rosebud, won the 2001 G2 Fillies' Revue and the 2003 G3 Mermaid Stakes and placed second three times in G1 races. Her great-grand dam, Rose Colour, won the 1995 G2 Daily Hai Sansai Stakes, and her uncle, Rose Kingdom, won the 2009 G1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes and the 2010 G1 Japan Cup.

With a record of 5 wins from 15 starts, she won the G3 Flower Cup as a 3-year-old and finished second to Stars on Earth in the G1 Japanese Oaks. In the autumn, she claimed her second graded stakes victory in the G2 Shion Stakes and achieved her first G1 victory in the Shuka Sho. However, she has finished no better than fifth in her five subsequent starts. While some question her form, she hopes to bounce back in this G3 race.

Since the G3 Queen Stakes was opened to older horses in 2000, 26 G1 winners have competed, with only three winning, Yamakatsu Suzuran in 2001, Aerolithe in 2017, and Deirdre in 2018, despite six being the favourite and seven as the second favourite. Can Stunning Rose defy this trend and showcase her G1-winning prowess? Watch closely as this 5-year-old mare seeks to reclaim her glory.
