Pre-race favourite Cervinia surged down the stretch to claim victory in the G1 Shuka Sho, completing a brilliant double after her Japanese Oaks triumph. The winning time was 1:57.1. Bond Girl, the fifth favourite, made a strong late charge to finish second, while second favourite and Oka Sho winner Stellenbosch took third.

Sekitoba East set a blistering early pace, opening up a big lead with a 1000m split of 57.1 seconds. Christmas Parade followed in a distant second, while Cervinia settled comfortably in mid-pack. Jockey Christophe Lemaire reflected, "I wasn't worried because it's hard for a front-runner to hold on in that kind of pace." He added, "I got her into the position I wanted. She stayed calm, moved in her rhythm, and finished with a great acceleration."

This year, the JRA's G1 races from the February Stakes to the Sprinters Stakes had all been won by different jockeys, but Lemaire's victory in the Shuka Sho makes him the first jockey to secure multiple G1 wins this season. As for the newly crowned two-time G1 winner Cervinia, Lemaire predicted even more success to come, stating, "I believe she can win at G1 level again."
