Aiming for his first title, Sirius Colt showcased a sharp turn of foot on August 7th at the Miho Training Center woodchip track, his first serious track work since finishing second in the G3 Radio Nikkei Sho. He worked solo, maintaining a perfect rhythm under his rider's guidance. As they entered the home stretch, a slight nudge was all it took for Sirius Colt to respond immediately, showing a strong rhythm and an impressive burst of speed, clocking 86.8 seconds for 6 furlongs, with splits of 38.0 seconds and a final 11.5 seconds.

Trainer Yoshitada Munakata was pleased with the workout, noting, "There's not much to say, everything is going smoothly." After a slightly tense workout two weeks ago, they opted for a lighter session this time. "He was a bit on edge two weeks ago, but he's settled down nicely over the past week. He's in a good place now," Munakata added, expressing satisfaction with the colt's current condition.

In his last race, Sirius Colt surged powerfully in the middle of the stretch, only to lose by a head in a close finish. Munakata acknowledged the frustration but is optimistic about the upcoming race, where Sirius Colt will face older horses for the first time, carrying a handicap of 54 kg. "He's run well carrying 57 kg before," Munakata said with a smile. This will be only the second time Sirius Colt has raced on a left-handed track since finishing fifth in the G3 Niigata Nisai Stakes. "A strong performance here would open up more options for him," the trainer added, expressing his hopes for the race.
