Joao Moreira, who was tied for fifth place after day 1 of the WASJ, secured victory in the final race, earning a total of 64 points and clinched his second World All-Star Jockeys (WASJ) title, his first since 2015. JRA veteran, Yutaka Take, finished second with 55 points, while Ryusei Sakai took third with 51 points. In the team competition, the JRA Select team scored 237 points, defeating the World All-Star Select team (comprising international and NAR jockeys) with a total of 216 points. This marked the JRA team's eighth consecutive win since the inception of the event in 2015.

The final race was crucial for Moreira, as only a win would secure the overall title. Riding boldly from the outside, Moreira unleashed a powerful stretch drive, overtaking the field and celebrating with multiple fist pumps.

This triumph marked his second time on top of the WASJ podium, "I just wanted to enjoy myself. I'm happy to have achieved such a great result. The horse surprised me by giving everything, and I'm delighted," Moreira said with a smile.

Earlier this year, during a short-term license period in the JRA, Moreira won the G1 Oka Sho aboard Stellenbosch but fell short of the required two G1 wins needed to qualify for future short-term licenses. However, a new rule introduced in this series added a provision allowing jockeys who finish in the top five of WASJ to meet the conditions for obtaining a short-term license next year. "I wanted to finish in the top five and meet the new criteria," he had said before the competition.

Not only did Moreira achieve his goal, but he did so in spectacular fashion by winning the overall title. "I was always thinking about it, and it was on my mind while I was riding. I'm thrilled to have secured the right to a short-term license. I hope to return next year and the year after," he said. This season, Moreira had reduced his racing commitments by two-thirds in his native Brazil to recover to full riding fitness. Now, the "Magic Man" has made a full comeback in Hokkaido.
