This weekend features a triple-header of racing at Niigata, Chukyo, and Sapporo Racecourses, with three graded stakes races on the schedule.
On Sunday, the G3 Niigata Kinen will take place at Niigata Racecourse. The field is expected to include Light Back, who finished third in the G1 Japanese Oaks, Red Radiance, the winner of the G3 Tanabata Sho, and Alice Verite, who strode to victory in the G3 Mermaid Stakes.
Also on Sunday, Chukyo Racecourse will host the G3 Kokura Nisai Stakes. Among the entries are Endless Summer, who finished third in the G3 Hakodate Nisai Stakes, Ecoro Sieg, who won a Newcomers at Niigata over 1200m with an impressive front-running performance, and A Shin Wand, who triumphed in Newcomers race over 1200m at Chukyo.
On Saturday, the G3 Sapporo Nisai Stakes will be contested at Sapporo Racecourse. The race will feature Ask Stein, who is unbeaten in two starts including the Newcomers and the Open Class Cosmos Sho, King Squall, who dominated Newcomers over 1800m at Sapporo, and Matenro Son, who also scored a commanding win in Newcomers over 1800m at Sapporo. These contenders will vie for the title of Sapporo's 2-year-old champion.
In the NAR circuit, one dirt-graded race is scheduled for the week. On Thursday, August 29, the Jpn 3 Summer Champion will be held at Saga Racecourse, with last year's winner Sunrise Hawk among those expected to run.
