JRA jockeys at the event
Jun Takada, a 43-year-old jockey from the Japan Racing Association and 13 other jockeys, participated in a charity event on the 27th at the "Kobato no Ie" children's home in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. The jockeys served food such as yakisoba and candy apples, bringing joy to about 50 children.
The event, which began in 2009, was marking its 16th year. Takada, who initiated the event, reflected on the passage of time, "The child who was 3 years old during the first event is now a high school student. They used to say, 'Big brother's here,' but now I'm a veteran jockey. I hope fans will learn about activities like this and that many people will be inspired to have the same kind of volunteering spirit."
