A long-awaited debut has finally arrived. Orgullecida, a 2-year-old filly by Maurice and granddaughter of six-time G1 winner Buena Vista, is set to debut in Tokyo Racecourse's 5th race on Saturday (turf 1800 meters).
Originally, she was scheduled to debut in the summer at Fukushima Racecourse, but after needing a reset, her connections opted to wait until autumn. Trainer Keisuke Miyata is optimistic, saying, "She's grown over the summer, putting on about 15kg and gaining height. Although we had a small setback, it turned into a good period of growth."
On the 6th at Miho Training Center's woodchip track, Orgullecida worked in a trio, with jockey Keita Tosaki, who will partner her in the race, guiding her to the fastest finish with splits of 84.8 for 6F, 38.9, and 11.8 for the final furlong. "She seems ready to run," said Miyata, impressed by her talent, adding that Tosaki also felt a positive response. With her big stride, she's poised to take on the long straight of Tokyo Racecourse with strength and style.
