Second favourite Urban Chic scored a brilliant come-from-behind victory in the G2 St Lite Kinen, securing his first graded stakes win. The race saw Cosmo Kuranda, the top favourite, finish second, with third favourite Ecoro Walz claiming third.

It ultimately became a showdown between the top-class contenders from the spring Classics. After a wide trip, Cosmo Kuranda took the lead in the final stretch, but Urban Chic, who had saved energy on the inside, angled out and unleashed a powerful burst to overtake and cross the finish line first.

Jockey Christophe Lemaire, who took the reins of Urban Chic for the first time, smiled after the victory. "I knew he had the ability. Usually, he makes steady progress, but when I brought him to the outside in the stretch, he shifted gears and showed a fantastic turn of foot at the end." Despite finishing fourth in the G1 Satsuki Sho and eleventh in the G1 Japanese Derby, Urban Chic has earned his spot in the G1 Kikuka Sho. Lemaire added, "I think he'll handle the distance. He's still improving, and I believe he has a real chance in the Kikuka Sho."
