It was hugely impressive performance for a juvenile on debut. Race favourite, Federer (a 2-year-old colt, by Nadal out of Gouin), scored a commanding victory, winning by a wide margin. Leading from start to finish, he cruised home with a 1.8-second gap to the runner-up.

Trainer Mamoru Ishibashi expressed his satisfaction, saying, "There were moments when it looked like he might charge ahead too eagerly, but everything went smoothly." Jockey Yutaka Take was equally impressed, noting, "He was strong. He didn't feel incredibly fast, but he maintained full control and looked comfortable all the way to the finish. He's got great potential."

Take also playfully added, referring to the horse's name shared with tennis legends, "It was a perfect service ace," humorously capturing the successful debut by the son of "Nadal" colt named "Federer."
