Sierra Leone wins the G1 Breeders' Cup Classic

On November 3rd (JST) at Del Mar Racetrack, the G1 Breeders' Cup Classic was won Sierra Leone, ridden by jockey Flavien Prat and at 5-1 odds. With a powerful move from the rear of the field, the winning time was 2:00.78.
Fierceness, the 2-1 favourite, secured second place, while Forever Young, who stayed-on gallantly from a prominent position finished third.
Among the Japanese contenders, Ushba Tesoro stayed in the rear of the pack, ultimately finishing 10th, while Derma Sotogake, who set the early pace, finished 13th. English Derby winner, City of Troy, who made his dirt debut finished 8th.
Sierra Leone is by Gun Runner out of Heavenly Love, whose is by Malibu Moon. This marks his second G1 victory, following a win in the Blue Grass Stakes back in April.
