A well-bred two-year-old colt tied to his stable's lineage is set to make his debut under a familiar jockey Yutaka Take. Alma de Oro, running in Kyoto Racecourse's 5th race on Sunday (turf 2000 meters), will step onto the track carrying high expectations. His half-brother is the illustrious Kitasan Black, a seven-time G1 winner and successful sire. Alma de Oro's older sibling, Sugar Kun, also claimed victory in this year's Aoba Sho.
Since early October, Alma de Oro has been training steadily, clocking competitive times and demonstrating promising movement. His groom, Miyamoto, remarked, "His two brothers debuted at three, so it's significant he's ready at this stage. He has a calm temperament, making him easy to handle, and has a long stride with a good, quick start. True to his pedigree, he maintains strong, lasting speed rather than a sharp burst." Alma de Oro aims to win his debut with Yutaka Take in the saddle, who was the regular rider for his successful siblings.
