Eeyan and Mirco Demuro won the G2 New Zealand Trophy on Saturday, grabbing a ticket to the G1 NHK Mile Cup. The pair positioned themselves a few lengths behind the leader and drew away from their rivals in the home stretch, holding off the late challenge of Umbrail by 1 1/4 lengths.

Champagne Color came home in third a neck behind Umbrail whilst the race favourite Dolce More finished disappointing seventh.

Eeyan is a son of Silver State out of Silk Venus, by Timber Country. The G2 New Zealand Trophy marked a third consecutive win for Eeyan. Not just available to the winner, both Umbrail and Champagne Color won an entry spot for the G1 NHK Mile Cup too.
