A blue-blooded debutante is set to take the stage this weekend. Jocelyn, a 2-year-old filly by Epiphaneia, will make her debut in Race 5 at Nakayama Racecourse on Saturday (1800m, turf). She is a full sister to Efforia, the 2021 Satsuki Sho, Tenno Sho (Autumn), and Arima Kinen G1 winner. Trainer Yuichi Shikato spoke highly of her potential, estimating her weight at 470kg, "She's like a leaner version of Efforia, with a tall frame. I'd like to see more body mass on her, but she has a straightforward temperament and runs with an impressively light-footed stride."
Jocelyn had her first interaction with jockey Takeshi Yokoyama last week. In her final prep, she worked alongside Serenity, clocking 6F in 89.1 seconds with splits of 39.4 and 11.9 seconds, finishing two and a half lengths ahead. "Considering the track condition, it was solid work. Yokoyama rode her last week and said she felt 'good.' Ideally, I'd like her to run on firm ground," Shikato added. Jocelyn will aim for a winning debut at Nakayama, the same course where her brother once dazzled.
